The Packager

The Packager is an add on option that allows photographers to group Bay Photo's single node products into packages and groups of their own choosing. The package is represented as a series of concentric layouts in the layout area, with dotted lines showing where each layout's bounds will fall. When an image is added to a package and the package is added to the order, each product in the package is added to the order. This speeds order entry for commonly offered photographer products.

The Packager is used by creating groups and packages in the "My Packages" palette, and dragging lab products from the "Print Sizes" palette to the newly created packages.

To create a package group, click the "Add group" button. A tooltip is available on each button.

Clicking "Add group" will add a tab to the palette, and show a text field where the new group's name can be entered. Then, click the "Add package" button to add a new package, and enter its name.

When the new package is first created, it will be disabled since it contains no products. To add a product to it, simply drag a product from the "Print Sizes" palette to it. When a product is dragged onto a user package, the package is badged with a green "+" to signify that if it's dropped on that package, it'll become an item in that package.

The area below packages will show the constituent products in the selected package. This area offers the ability to rotate a product and change the product's quantity in the package.

This area also allows selection of the outermost, bounding layout in the package. This is the package which constrains drags and has all other layouts plotted relative to it. The bounding layout is signified by a blue square badge on the package icon. To make a layout the bounding layout, click its icon.
To rename a package, click the "abc" button. If a package is selected, then two text fields are shown, "Enter a new group name" and "Enter a new package name". If no package is selected, only the group rename text field is shown.

To remove a package, select it and click the "Remove package" button: . To remove an entire group, click the "Remove Group" button: . When removing a group, a confirmation dialog is shown.

Photographer packages are saved in a file in the application preference folder as "packages.xml", and are backed up to prevent data loss in a file called "packagesbackup.xml".
